Web Development Overview

When we say web development it is usually considered as covering  the both front end and the back end covering both design and development. But that is not the case in reality usually the web development covers mainly the coding, programming or back end only. The designing part is additional. The websites that make up the world of Internet are usually developed by web developers.

To understand the web development one needs to understand some basic concepts such as local computer,remote computer, hyperlinks, Hypertext Markup Language and protocols.

The local machine is the one that is used to develop the website. The server or remote computer is one on which the website is saved and is presented to the viewer. The servers have restricted access only that's why they demand a user to log in to perform any specific action.

If you want to make any modifications in the website the copy at the server needs to be modified because this is the copy that a viewers see. If multiple users modify the website at a single time they can over write the file if they are not updating the original copy. So it is advisable to always update the copy saved at server because it provides you the opportunity to test the website before publishing it.

Usually Hyper Text Mark Up Language or Extended Hyper Text Mark Up Language the text based files are used to instruct browsers how to display the websites and the technique of hyperlinking is used to connect the pages over the Internet.

The protocols are defined to monitor the errors , transfer of data and correct display of website to viewers. The most common media formats compatible with website development are portable network graphic, graphic interchange format and joint photographic experts group. The cascading style sheets commonly known as CSS , HTML and tags are used to define the design and layout of the web pages.

The web master is the person who watches for the development of web and take care that website is up to dated in line with organization policies and business rules. Usually in small companies webmaster is the web developer. The web developer needs to look for the layout, coding and marking. the basic skill needed is know how of Hyper Text Mark Up language but knowledge of Java, Perl and ASP are also important for programming of various parts when it comes to website development. If a database is also needed to embed the knowledge of Standard Query Language for addition,deletion,modification and extrusion of data is also required.

For the front end a graphic designer with the sense of creativity,style and understanding of HTML is required who can format the website layout accordingly. There are variety of editors available for editing a few to mention are Microsoft Front page and Dream weaver. Whatever editor you are using the most basic editors are always word pad of Microsoft and Text Edit of Apple. So its always important to save files in text format specially the HTML documents.
