What is Multimedia
Today when we need to communicate we have a lot of options to do so. Our need of communication is supported by multiple devices and multiple platforms. So when we use the word multimedia it is communication that uses multiple media types to convey the message. Whatever we see around is in form of graphics, images, texts, voices, sound clips, they are types of multimedia. The history of multimedia goes back to the era of silent movies when tape used to be run on projectors.
The technology in today’s world can work wonders and can help you to turn your wild dreams and fantasies into reality. Nothing that seems like magic is non convert able to reality now the world of technology offers you endless possibilities, Multimedia has power of animation,images,3d graphics and sounds in it that helps you bring your dream world to life. The medium of communication has evolved with time and now we have endless opportunities including television and radio to reach masses to deliver single piece of information in creative way at single time all due to wonders of multimedia.
In any simple form the touch of multimedia adds additional and marvelous meanings and can make your simple work emerge as distinct piece of artwork. Usually most of the time multimedia is either related to projectors in class rooms or computers applications, devices and controllers in limited meanings. But it has vast horizon and application involved though most of the time it is stored, run and displayed while using computers in the form of texts , clips and sounds to convey messages. The data is stored in different formats such as .avi, .jpeg,.gif but requires HTML and browsers to embed and display the data correctly according to compatibility with the platform. When the multimedia such as presentation is needed to run through external drive such as CD ROM the most acceptable format for running it is Macro media or Microsoft Power Point.
The two generally accepted and broad categories of multimedia even in today's world are sounds and images or the senses of hearing and seeing. And usually the multimedia has different formats to present single image and sound clips as per your plat forms compatibility to run the files at their optimum quality.
The more specified form of multimedia are usually referred to as Interactive media. The online educational programs in which students can participate in quizzes and activities the concept of virtual classroom perhaps and the gaming of multi or single player is included in this type. Another example is theatre, drama or film that let you make journey through them without interactivity but make you have experience and you can relate to sounds and images to emotions, and thus effectively delivers the plot or message effectively by usage of multimedia.
The multimedia perhaps was evolved to increase the user experience and help him learn things by using the senses of vision and hearing which plays effective role in making someone learned.
