Once was a time that mobile computing was only restricted usage of mobile phones which are just extensions of fixed lines with no features other then voice calls. With the advent of latest technology the mobile phones are no more just voice transmission devices they now cover text messages, Internet access, data transmission and multimedia messages.
No field of our life is now empty from the benefits of mobile computing whether you are using personal digital assistants, pocket personal computers, remote access to database to extract any kind of data from any place at any time or Global Positioning System to locate any vehicle or find anything in particular through satellite. Wireless communication and networking have played a vital role in promotion of mobile computing.
Mobile computing thus in simple words can be defined as the wireless communications to access the required information from any place, at any time at any database you require to retrieve data from. There are various scenarios of involvement of mobile computing in our lives which we even don’t realise. The purpose of common computer is to sit passively on our tables without being aware of whats happening around there are more sensitive computers that are aware of what is happening around them. The term mobile computing is also used as alternative to wireless technology quite often.

Wireless sensor Networks are another important application of mobile computing and help physicians and biologists to test or identify or treat any disease the example of such devices are blood pressure operators, thermometers etc.
The modern era is all about gadgets, fun, entertainment and getting connected twenty four hours a day. The development and advancement in mobile computing is targeted towards youngsters in general but specifically to teenagers due to their love for infotainment and being tech savvy. Because being a teenager today means getting on top of everything whether it is news update,whether update, songs,music,TV or finding a new place or restaurant for hanging out. So mobile computing has not only to focus upon soft part that is development of applications on one hand rather on hardware as well that offers greater portability and best accessibility with lesser compatibility issues.
