Microsoft certifications make you distinguished among other IT professionals. These are very popular with the employers and esteemed among professionals. While the reward of a being certified are numerous but passing the exam is not that easy. Following tips will help you for taking the certification exam:
- Devise a study and revision plan that suits you. Read, write, make diagrams or use computer based training. Learn the basic concept first and then expand on it.
- Prepare every topic in detail. Microsoft is becoming more and more detailed oriented. As the feature set of Microsoft products are increasing with every new release so is the complexity of configuring the features and the error messages and types have increased manifolds. As it is necessary for the certified person to be able to handle all these issues, so the questions check your knowledge depth these days.
- The questions consist of both GUI and Command Line Interface. So you should be comfortable with both.Try understanding the information rather than memorizing it. Otherwise, you will not be able to handle tricky questions.
- To understand the study material, try testing each task. When you have done a configuration or setting yourself, you know a lot about it than if you just learn it by heart.
- You have to learn different terms and abbreviations taught in Microsoft study guides. Otherwise you may not be able to understand or answer some questions.
- There are numerous online tests available. Do try them again and again and check why you answered a question incorrectly. Then study that particular topic again to improve your understanding.
- During actual exam, read every question twice before answering it. You may miss a tiny detail which can have a large effect on the answer.
- In the scenario based questions, study the scenario in detail and ask yourself what will resolve the issue and what will not.
- Microsoft questions are changing to relate the real world network problems. They are now testing your skills to survive in your everyday network jobs.
- You should use time-restricted practice test to prepare for the certification exams. The time for each question is less these days. On the average you have only 2.1 minutes per question. If you are a fast reader it takes around a minute to just read the question. So you should be quick and you should know your stuff. You cannot spend unlimited time on one question.
- All the questions are not just multiple choices any more. You will see many GUIs that you will have to configure with lots of drag and drops. It’s a real test of concepts these days.
- You have to become familiar with the language and phrases being used in the question so that you understand the question correctly during the exam.
