When people have difficulties in performing tasks they think about devising methods that can make their routine work easy. Advent of technology is part and parcel of such a procedure and thought of mankind.
The rise of computer technology and the benefit humans have reaped it from it one of the miracles of new century. The major players in the market of computer technology are IBM, Apple and Microsoft. Computer is a blend of software applications and hardware.
The history of computer goes back to 1944 when first computer was established by Harvard and IBM. The computer established then ran for almost fifteen years. It was a huge machine as it weighs five tons, is eight feet tall and needs five horse power electric motor. The basic components of the machine are shafts, clutches and relays.
The time keeps on passing and the computers remain to evolve and there comes the year of 1960 and brought mainframe computers with it. Basically they serve large institutions like government institutes and educational institutes. The methods used were punch cards and teletype cards to put these machines to usage.
As Apple is the pioneer in this field the next computer that comes from Apple has microprocessor from Intel that computer comes in 1976.Once the Apple launched its latest system IBM comes as competitor and presented 4.77 Mega Hertz Intel microprocessor. It came with an expendable Random Access Memory which stores data temporarily to make smooth running of applications possible. The range allowed was from 16 kb to 256 kb. It also supports floppy drives for external data storage.
Once the machine was established now it was time to introduce it to consumers and sell it. Sears and the computer land were two stores that took the initiative to market the computers and the result was great revenue.
With the rise of 1980s Bill Gates introduced the Microsoft Disc Operating System and ran it on the IBM’s computer. This was a revolutionary moment and helps become Bill Gates achieve the status of richest man of the world.
The Palo Alto Research Center was the first to bring MAC computers to life. It was Mac computers that have graphic interface and allow users to enjoy the user friendly nature of computers. This began era of new technology after 1983 came windows operating system whose latest versions still are widely popular and are used on almost every second personal computer. Other than DOS Windows are more user friendly and have better graphical interface.
Other than Operating Systems Intel was focusing upon building better microprocessors to ensure speed and efficiency in running the machine. That is result of hard work of Intel that today core duo to processors make are machines work at optimum level. Due to these micro processors large organizations are depending upon computers for their primary functional tasks.
The advancement of technology in hardware and both software helps to do every task of users easier and it made it possible for every commoner to get benefited from this machine we call as computers.
